2008 - Reports: 17

About 3 AM,

Bolgoed Road, Pontardulais. The house where this incident happened is located in a terrace with a very small garden to the front, and a rear garden which opens onto a back lane. Husband and wife, David and Nicola were in bed.
David was unable to sleep and heard a noise outside, and the sound of someone trying the back door. He woke his wife and she too heard the noise of the door handle. Then she heard footsteps on the gravel in the back garden.
She got up and looked out of the en-suite bathroom window and again heard the footsteps, but could see no one.
David ran out into the back garden to find the intruder, and went to the entrance onto the lane at the rear but could see nobody in either direction. He explained later that he noticed that the sky was brighter than it should have been at that time of the night, being a bluey colour like it gets as dawn approaches, which was further unusual as there was cloud cover.
David went back into the house, and as he came through the back door, he saw Nicola standing in the hall and looking upstairs.
She called him over so he went to see what she was looking at. He saw that the light on the landing ceiling, which had an energy-efficient bulb fitted, was switched off, but the tip of the bulb was flickering.
But the strangest and most unnerving thing was that while the light was flickering with no current feeding it, they could hear footsteps in the attic - like that of children running back and fore, repeatedly crossing the ceiling, two or three pairs of feet judging by the sound they were making.
The couple were up all night that night. This resulted in David keeping a martial arts weapon by the side of his bed, (which he still does as at 2015) and put a video camera outside in the garden a few nights later, balancing it on the edge of their trampoline facing the back gate, and leaving it running all night.
When he went out the following morning he found the camera had been turned around to face the house, and had been turned off. There was still tape unused and there was still power in the battery. The last thing it had recorded of the image going bright which David thinks could be an arm close up.
He tried it another night but nothing happened.
Although of significant interest regarding possible paranormal activity, this report is included in this chronology as it is relevant when considering David and Nicola's previous and subsequent UFO and entity encounters

Schoolboy Shaun Williams, 12, went out to photograph a light aircraft performing stunts above his home in Llanelli at around 3 PM.
Later he looked at the pictures on his digital camera – and realised he had also captured a saucer shape against a clear blue sky. Shaun said, “I couldn’t believe it when I looked back at my pictures and this strange object was there.”

Dawn Williams, 45, spotted an object in the sky above Aberdare Country Park, hours before the police helicopter/UFO incident at St. Athan.
She said: “It came over the horizon and was travelling for about a minute and a half before it disappeared.
It was circular and had a dome on top – it looked like a planet with rings. I didn’t say anything at the time because I didn’t think anyone would believe me.”

8 JUNE 2008 – ST. ATHAN

A police helicopter was coming in to land at its base at RAF St. Athan, near Cardiff at 12.40 am. When at 500 ft and waiting to land the crew saw a UFO speeding towards them from below.
A source said: “It closed in at great speed aiming straight at the helicopter. The chopper had to swerve sharply to avoid being hit. The guys said if they’d stayed where they were, they’d be dead – it would’ve been a direct hit.
They are convinced it was a UFO. It sounds far-fetched, but they know what they saw. These guys are hardened professionals and know people will take the mickey, but they are certain they saw a UFO. After the near-collision they decided to follow it to find out what the hell it was. They belted across the Bristol Channel in pursuit, but it was too quick.
They got to the North Devon coast and had to turn back because they were running low on fuel.”
All three crew described the object as “flying saucer shaped” and circled by flashing lights. They reported it to senior officers, who passed on the report to Britain’s UFO investigators.
The chopper is crammed with hi-tech cameras and surveillance gear, but the UFO somehow avoided being caught on film. Strangely, the crew could not see the craft with night-vision goggles – but all said it was “clearly visible” to the naked eye.
South Wales Police said “We can confirm the Air Support Unit sighted an unusual aircraft. This was reported to the relevant authorities for their investigation.”
The MOD, which usually investigates UFO sightings said: “We’ve heard nothing about this. But it is certainly not advisable for police helicopters to go chasing what they think are UFOs.”

A doctor of psychology of Cardiff University, Dr. Simon Griffey, 50 and his son Jack, 23, were driving near Llangynidr Mountain in the Brecon Beacons at 11.40 pm, when they spotted lights over Talybont-on-Usk.
He said: “There was no noise whatsoever, it was a bit eerie. I’ve driven over this mountain for 17 years and have never seen anything like it. There were seven lights and having read the description from the soldiers in Shropshire, there are some similarities.
They were the same sort of colour and the same spherical shape that they reported. I know I wasn’t seeing things because Jack saw exactly the same thing as I did – and two other cars pulled over to look.”
Sceptics have suggested the sightings could be huge man-made lanterns floating into the sky. But the boffin, of Llangynidr, said: “It was too big. It was way above the horizon and stayed there for 15 minutes. It was a bit smaller than a full moon – quite big and high up.”
Jack recorded the phenomenon on his mobile phone – but when they examined the pictures later, they found only three of the seven lights showed up.
Dr Griffey said: “The police helicopter crew (8 June) said they failed to record the sighting on their equipment. If it had been a natural phenomenon you surely would have been able to photograph all of it. I’d like someone to explain – because I have no idea what to make of it. I think it’s plausible that there could be life on other planets.”

About 4.45 / 5 PM. Clear sky, few clouds.

Maria had a was doing door-to-door collections in Sebastopol Street in St. Thomas. As she was dealing with a client outside the terraced house, the client pointed something out in the sky. A silver ball was hovering motionless in the sky. The person said she'd seen things like that before. Another person nearby also saw the round object.

When Maria's husband came home from work at 5.30 pm, she told him about the sighting and together they went out in the car for Maria to do some more collections. At Bay Street, he parked the car while Maria made another collection. It was here that he too, saw the metallic round object:

"I can describe the object as a round spherical silver mirrored object a few hundred meters in the sky. It was hard to guess the size but would say it the size of a minibus. It was south-east of where I was and must have been directly over Fabian Way. The object remained there for 4 to 5 minutes and was static, no movement at all. The sky was clear with hardly any clouds. After the 4 to 5 minutes of me staring at the object it steadily moved upwards and continued until it had disappeared. In less than a minute it had disappeared completely. There was no sound from the object. It was NOT a weather balloon and from the time duration of 30 to 45 minutes initially seen would have shifted any balloon far away. Looking at weather balloons from the internet I can confirm it wasn't one.

I did not report the incident to the Evening Post. I did search the Evening Post's website over the following week or so and found an interesting article that someone from the Mumbles had taken a photo of what was described as an alien. if you saw the picture you could pass it off as a hoax. But the interesting  part is the person who took the 'alien' photo had done earlier on the day I saw the spherical object."

Terry Williams (39), and Richard Jones, both from Pwllheli were visiting friends in Mynytho. Terry, who works for Cerrig stonemasons said:
"There was a group of six of us when Richard spotted something in the sky above Abersoch. It looked like a flare as it was an orange colour, but it didn't move for around a minute. I ran into the house and fetched a camera to take video footage of it. The light then shot off into the sky and drifted to the left. There was then a white light, before it disappeared."

A motorcyclist at Argoed saw an unidentified object. In an email to the MOD he said he:
"spotted three bright orange lights in the sky about a mile away, (I) pulled over to look and noticed that the lights were heading towards me. The lights switched off one by one but (I) could still see one of the objects, (I) lost sight of the other two, this object was black and disc shaped, it also moved quick and was silent."

8.30 PM
An anonamous witness aged 29:
"My girlfriend and I were just taking our dog for a walk, admiring the last bit of the sunset. The clouds were low and it wasn’t a particularly nice night as the weather had been dismal all day. We were both just walking, when we both saw the huge ball shoot past and out to sea...it was all in a blink of an eye, bright bright white light. it was like something from a film!...we both saw it, and were both saying 'did you just see that?'...it was so weird. The 3 fishermen on the beach about 300 yards away did not see it, which freaked us out even more. I guess, it was so fast you could blink and miss it....we then just stopped and looked for anything else in the sky, but nothing. We then walked back up the beach opposite direction towards the houses, when the dog started growling at nothing, and then again in a split second we saw another smaller round bright white ball appear and mega mega quickly move sideways in the sky and then just vanish. My girlfriend screamed, and we were both really shaken up! What we saw was too fast both times to be a plane or jet, and both think the whole thing is just unexplainable. We are glad we both saw the lights as it sounds so unbelievable, but its what we both saw...."

Witness – Nigel Morgan says he thinks it was late summer because the children next door were collecting for the harvest festival and he gave them some tins of soup and that helped him to remember the time of year.
One night about 2 AM, he awoke from a night paralysis episode, and experiencing a feeling of being watched, in bed at home at Gomer Gardens, Townhill, Swansea.
He was usually a light sleeper due to suffering with arthritis in his spine, and he suddenly got up and went to the window and shouted out: “No stop it! You can’t take her!”
In the street he said he saw a blonde woman standing on the pavement his side of the road, and a beam of light shone down onto her from above. She was lifting off the ground and suddenly all was gone in an instant. He did not recognise the woman.
He dressed and went outside, after which he has no recollection until waking up again in his bed, but fully clothed, with shoes on.

About 10 PM.
Finian Handley was driving his taxi, alone, through Monmouth, south-west along the A40, and saw two "orbs", one above the other, hovering just above the trees in Chippenham Park, next to the A40 dual carriageway ahead of him.
"I continued through the traffic lights and directly past the orbs, which were only four lanes away from me and a few metres above the trees at most. I was so close to them as I passed them - less than fifteen metres.
I noticed that the bottom orb had what I can only describe as a chink or splinter of light coming out of the bottom right side, as if the orb was beginning to change shape.
I pulled over (on the slip road over the River Wye that leads to Beech Road) as quickly as possible. In this short period - ten seconds at most - they must have completely changed into black triangles, because by the time I'd got out of the car and turned to look at the orbs, they were triangles in the same spot, one beside the other. They were low enough to hit with a stone, about the height of two and a half lamp posts stacked on top of each other.
There were several lights on them, arranged symmetrically on the underside and there were white lights on the three points of each triangle. I can't remember the exact layout of the lights on the underside except that there were at least three different colours, including white and red, and definitely a row of four blue lights along the back end. Each triangle was a bit larger than a small passenger jet.
They hovered for a second over Chippenham Park, then started to slowly move toward me but slightly to my right. Both objects were clearly identical in every way and were moving slower than five miles an hour, taking at least fifteen seconds just to pass over the dual carriageway. They were absolutely silent and there were no other cars on the road at the time. As they slowly and silently crossed the dual carriageway, they elongated slightly.
They momentarily also shimmered, as if becoming partially transparent, but literally for only a second. They they made a decisive turn away from me - about ninety degrees - and as they departed, all of the different coloured lights on the underside, including the flat oval blue lights, faded to white. After passing over the dual carriageway, they both turned slightly left. keeping perfect formation, now travelling toward the Kymin; then a few seconds later they split up, onre continuing toward the Kymin and the other departing straight up the dual carriageway, maintaining the same speed and height."
(Earlier in the evening, at about 9.30 PM he, together with a passenger in his taxi, saw two triangular craft over Whitchurch, a few miles to the north-east, across the border in England. The two craft had appeared "almost directly over the car, going slowly in the opposite direction". Four blue lights could be seen along the back of each object.
The two triangles were only a metre or two apart. His passenger also witnessed this sighting, before they disappeared from view.)
An anoymous witness  came forward with information supporting Finian's later sighting:
"I saw exactly the same thing over Wyesham (above Monmouth) on the the same evening.
The only difference being that what I saw, I believe, was earlier in the evening and the direction was slightly different. But his description of the two 'craft', the lights, etc., everything was eerily the same....these two objects came from a northerly direction, just below the Kymin.
But the really bizarre thing that occurred to me as they drew closer and eventually passed over my house was that they were hardly moving - travelling really slowly."

Gwyneth Davies of Buckley, said: "I saw the object Cllr Renshaw saw [see below] in the sky at lunchtime....I thought it was an odd shape to be a plane and it was so silent. It was tubular shaped, and I was going to mention it to my husband, then the phone rang and I came in from the garden. It was only after reading about this sighting that I remembered it."

1.30 PM.

Flint Mayor, Terry Renshaw, saw a 'pipe-like' object travelling silently over his home in Bagillt.

"I thought at first it was a plane trailing a big streamer behind it, but then I realised it was something else. It looked like a big, flexible aluminium pipe and it was travelling very fast, with no sound. I took a picture of it on my camera and carried on watching it for a bit and then it disappeared, behind what I thought was a cloud. I then looked at the picture on my camera but there was nothing there - just clear blue sky."

About 6.15 PM.
Witness: "Whilst travelling to work at Corus [Shotton] on Oct. 5 at about 6.15 pm, I looked towards Bagillt and noticed a large, shiny, tube-like object in the clear blue sky, which did not seem to be moving. As I arrived at work, I mentioned this to other workmates, who looked towards Flint and the object was still visible."

6 PM.
Chris Mutch (37) owns land at the base of a tip. He was locking things up at the end of the day and  saw lights which seemed to be on an object over the tip:
"Four lights at corners of a square, approx 5 metres across judging from initial platform, which I am very familiar with. The odd thing? As it went over me, the moonlit sky revealed that there was nothing in between the lights. Lifted from the top of the tip and moved across the sky, behaved like a helicopter, which I assumed it was at first, carrying some kind if lighting rig. It was also silent, very weird".
Duration of sighting: 5 minutes.

7.30 PM.
Joanne Payne (33),  was with two other people on Southerndown beach and saw an object fly past at speed.
"It was an oval round shape with twin lights surrounding the circumference, lights were orange in colour, moved so fast that it was literally a blink of an eye, two others also saw the sighting..."
The object hovered and zoomed off.
The witnesses were in shock and disbelief at what they had seen.
Duration of sighting: 4 seconds.
